EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR therapy has been proven to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma, although its effectiveness depends on how it is practiced, and on the individual needs and histories of clients. (I talk more about this here.)

How is attachment-focused EMDR different?

Whereas traditional EMDR can feel rigid at best, or even retraumatizing for highly sensitive people or those with complex trauma, AF-EMDR is a more attuned approach, highly adaptable to individual needs and attachment styles. AF-EMDR incorporates a nuanced understanding of developmental trauma, and a deep respect for the ways in which traumatized children have had to adapt in order to survive their circumstances. This sensitive and respectful approach to trauma healing will support you in discovering your own innate resources, as well as building in the resources you need to move through your trauma—even if these were things you never got as a child.

Does this sound like something you’d like to experience firsthand? I would be honored to be your guide.

How is Brainspotting different?
